This is the longest helicopter tour in Mauritius and the only one that circles the whole island. In about 75 minutes your private helicopter flies over the mountains, lagoons, waterfalls and islands that most visitors only see a few of on a two-week holiday. The route takes in more than 15 landmarks, from the Underwater Waterfall off Le Morne to the sacred lake at Grand Bassin and the islands off the north coast.
Check in 45 minutes before take-off, either at the Triolet helipad lounge or at your chosen hotel helipad. After the safety briefing, you board the helicopter and put on your headset so the pilot can talk you through the flight.
The exact route depends on where you take off, but a flight from the north usually runs like this. You cross Port Louis and fly between Le Pouce and Pieter Both, then follow the valleys to Tamarind Falls and the Black River Gorges. From there you head west to Île aux Bénitiers and the Underwater Waterfall off Le Morne Brabant, before turning inland over the coloured earth at Chamarel, the sacred lake of Grand Bassin and the extinct Kanaka Crater.
The flight continues to the south-east over Île aux Aigrettes and Île au Phare, where the French and British fought a naval battle in 1810, then north along the east coast to Île aux Cerfs. The last stretch passes Île d’Ambre, Coin de Mire, Cap Malheureux and Grand Baie before you land.
For a shorter flight, the shared helicopter tour starts at €225, and the underwater waterfall flight covers the famous illusion in fifteen minutes.
Helipads available: North (Triolet, Royal Palm), East (Anahita, Île aux Cerfs, One&Only Le Saint Géran), South (Avalon, Chamarel, SSR Airport, Le Paradis) and West.

Triolet is the cheapest take-off point because the helicopter is based there. For a group of 6, the Triolet price works out at about €603 each.
If your hotel has no helipad, we drive you to Triolet or the nearest helipad and back. Our drivers are local and speak English and French, with cars for 4, 6 or 12 people.
Grand Bassin, which you fly over midway through the tour, is a crater lake about 550 m above sea level. It is the most sacred Hindu site in Mauritius, and each year hundreds of thousands of pilgrims walk there from across the island for the festival of Maha Shivaratri.
About 75 minutes. It is the only helicopter tour that covers the whole island in one flight.
From €3,615 for the helicopter when you take off from Triolet. Prices from other helipads range from €3,985 to €4,925.
Up to 6 passengers in the Airbus H130, depending on total weight.
More than 15 landmarks, including Port Louis, Le Pouce, Tamarind Falls, the Black River Gorges, Le Morne, the Underwater Waterfall, Chamarel, Grand Bassin, Île aux Cerfs, Coin de Mire and Grand Baie.
Yes, from hotels with a helipad. Some charge a landing fee, which we confirm before you book.
If you want to see the whole island, this 75-minute tour. If you mainly want the Underwater Waterfall, a shorter flight from the south-west is enough.
For a group of 6 it works out at around €600 each from Triolet, and you see sights that would take several days to visit by car.
The pilot decides on the day. If the flight can’t go, you can rebook or get a full refund.
