This private half-day catamaran cruise gives you the best of the west coast in one morning. The boat is yours for four hours: you look for dolphins in the calm bays, anchor on the reef to snorkel and, if the sea allows, stop at Crystal Rock. You are back at Black River by 13:00, so the afternoon stays free for the beach or a nap.

Highlights

  • Private catamaran and crew for up to 14 guests
  • Dolphin watching in the morning, when the pods are closest to shore
  • Snorkelling stop on the reef
  • Crystal Rock when conditions allow
  • Shaded lounge, 3 cabins, bathroom and shower
  • Light snack on board, with lunch as an optional add-on
  • Back on land by 13:00

Full description

Meet the crew at Black River at 08:45. The catamaran leaves at 09:00 and follows the south-west coast, where bottlenose and spinner dolphins rest in the morning after feeding offshore at night. The skipper slows down and keeps a respectful distance so everyone gets a good look from the deck.

Next, the boat anchors over the reef. You can swim, snorkel among the reef fish, or stay on deck with a drink.

If the dolphins and the sea allow time, the crew takes you to Crystal Rock, the lone coral rock in the lagoon near Île aux Bénitiers, for photos. You sail back to Black River and step off at around 13:00.

If you would rather make a full day of it, the full-day private charter to Île aux Bénitiers adds lunch on board, and the private whale watching trip heads further offshore in season.

  • The trip depends on the weather. If we cancel, you can rebook or get a full refund.

Hotel transfers

We can pick you up from your hotel and drop you back after the cruise. Our drivers are local, speak English and French, and use cars for 4, 6, or 12 people. The price depends on the distance from Black River.

Did you know?

The spinner dolphin gets its name from the way it leaps out of the water and spins in the air, sometimes several times in one jump. Scientists think it helps the pod communicate and shake off parasites.

  • Champagne on ice for a birthday or anniversary
  • Birthday cake served on deck
  • Full-day upgrade: add Île aux Bénitiers and a beach BBQ (see Activity 2)
