This private catamaran cruise to Île aux Cerfs gives your group the east coast’s most famous day out without sharing the boat. You leave from Pointe Jérôme near Mahébourg, sail up the lagoon to the Grand River South East waterfall, snorkel on the reef, and spend the afternoon on Île aux Cerfs. With room for up to 34 people, it works well for weddings, family reunions and company trips.
Meet the crew at Pointe Jérôme at 08:45. You board, help yourselves to coffee, juice and pastries, and set off north through the lagoon at 09:00.
The first stop is the mouth of the Grand River Southeast. The boat moves slowly up the estuary, past steep green banks where monkeys and fruit bats live, to the waterfall where the river drops into the sea.
Back on the catamaran, you anchor on the reef for a swim and a snorkel. Around midday, the crew serves the BBQ lunch on board if you have added it.
The boat then drops you at Île aux Cerfs for the afternoon. The island has long white beaches and shallow water. The quietest beaches are a 10 to 15 minute walk from the landing area. You sail back to Pointe Jérôme in the late afternoon and are on land at about 16:00.
There is a shared catamaran to Île aux Cerfs if you would rather not take the whole boat, and the private charter to Île aux Bénitiers is the west coast version of this day.
Light breakfast (included): tea, coffee, juice and mini pastries.
BBQ lunch, €45 per person (optional): chicken skewers and sausages, marinated fish fillet, four salads, bread and fresh fruit.

The Grand River South East is the longest river in Mauritius, at around 34 km. Île aux Cerfs, meaning Deer Island, is named after the Java deer brought to Mauritius by the Dutch in the 1600s, and today it has an 18-hole golf course that takes up most of the island.
