The northern islands have the clearest water in Mauritius, and this charter takes you there with the boat to yourselves. You sail from Grand Baie past Coin de Mire to Gabriel Island, snorkel in the channel between Gabriel and Flat Island, and have a barbecue cooked on board with an open bar running all day. Departure time, swim stops, and how long you stay on the beach are yours to set.
Meet the crew at Grand Baie for a private catamaran charter Gabriel Island Tours. You set your own departure time, and most groups leave between 09:00 and 09:30 so there is plenty of island time before the wind picks up.
The catamaran heads north out of the bay and across open water. Coin de Mire passes on your left, close enough for photos, and the crossing takes around an hour and a half under sail.
The boat anchors in the channel between Gabriel Island and Flat Island. Nobody lives on these islands and they sit outside the main lagoon, so there is no runoff and the visibility is a clear step above the mainland reefs. The crew puts out the snorkelling gear and starts the barbecue.
After lunch, you have the beach to yourselves for as long as you want it, then an easy downwind sail home.
The shared catamaran cruise to Gabriel Island is the cheaper way to reach the same island, and the overnight catamaran charter turns the trip into a night on the water.
BBQ lunch: grilled fish and chicken, rice, salads, bread and fresh fruit, cooked on the back of the boat.
Open bar: rum, beer, wine, soft drinks, juice, water, tea and coffee.
Vegetarian, halal and allergy-friendly menus are available with notice. Lobster can replace the BBQ for an extra charge.

We can collect your group from one hotel or several and bring you back afterwards, in cars, minivans or a coach. Our drivers are local and speak English and French.
Coin de Mire, the rock you pass on the way out, is a nature reserve. Seabirds nest on its cliffs and the island has plants found nowhere else in Mauritius, which is why landing on it is not allowed.
From €1659 for the whole boat for 7 hours, including a BBQ lunch and an open bar. For 20 guests, that works out at about €83 each.
Up to 40, and we match the boat to your group.
Grand Baie, on the north coast.
Yes. It is the best snorkelling you can reach on a day trip from the north, because the islands are uninhabited and sit outside the main lagoon.
Yes. Most groups leave around 09:00, but the timing is yours.
It can be from June to September. From October to April it is usually calm, and a catamaran handles the swell far better than a single-hulled boat.
Yes, a BBQ cooked on board, with an open bar for the whole day.
No. It is a nature reserve, so you sail past rather than stopping.
