Everyone else goes back to the jetty at four o’clock. On an overnight charter you stay. The catamaran anchors in a sheltered lagoon for the night, the crew serves dinner on deck, and you wake up on the water with the reef to yourself before the first day boats arrive. It suits honeymooners, a couple of families sharing a boat, or anyone who wants a night that isn’t another hotel room.
You board in the afternoon and sail to the anchorage, with time to swim and snorkel before the light goes. The crew serves drinks on deck as the sun sets.
Dinner is cooked on board and served under the stars. The anchorage is chosen for shelter, so the boat stays steady through the night.
In the morning you have the reef to yourself. Most guests are in the water before breakfast, which is served at anchor. You sail back mid-morning, before the day boats arrive.
For a single day instead, the private charter to Gabriel Island runs seven hours from Grand Baie, and the private sunset cruise on the west coast covers just the evening.
Dinner: cooked on board and served on deck. Fish, chicken or a lobster menu, with salads and dessert.
Breakfast: tea, coffee, juice, fruit, bread and pastries at anchor.
Drinks: soft drinks and water included. Wine, beer and rum can be added.
Vegetarian, halal and allergy-friendly menus are available with notice.

Mauritius sits far from any large landmass, so on a clear night at anchor you can see the Southern Cross and the Magellanic Clouds, two galaxies visible only from the southern hemisphere.
From €1,450 for the boat, including dinner, breakfast and the night at anchor.
